Ohaus Explorer is the best analytical balance we have to offer for calibrating pipettes. Pipette adjustment checks the accuracy and precision values of pipettes by weight analysis. Ohaus EX124 has built in density reference table for water at temperatures between 10°C and 30°C. If other liquids are used for pipette calibration, enter the liquid's density at current room temperature in g/cm3. Since all calculations are made within the balance, the atmospheric pressure is also required. Pipette adjustment can be accomplished manually (with a key press after each step) or automatically (weights are automatically recorded when stable). Calculations made within the balance provide results of inaccuracy and imprecision. Up to 30 samples can be used.
The following settings can be entered prior to the adjustment process: Nominal Capacity, Water Temperature, Inaccuracy, Atmospheric Pressure, Imprecision, Pipette Name, and Pipette Number. You will be required to determine the atmospheric pressure and liquid temperature and then enter those values into the balance's settings. Ohaus EX124 calculates water density based on the water temperature value entered. Measure the actual water temperature using a precision thermometer. To the left you can see how Ohaus Explorer balances make it easy to navigate through the pipette calibration process using one of the lower resolution models. If you are unsure of how much accuracy you need, the rated linearity should be 1/10 of the pipettes permissable error. We include this information on all of our laboratory balances since this is one of the most important factors in deciding the appropriate balance for your application. Continue to follow the screen instructions by dispensing samples and pressing Accept to store each sample weight (liquid). The default number of samples is 10 but it can be modified in the settings from 2 to 30 samples. Once all the sample weights have been dispensed, the Results screen is automatically displayed. Press 'Graph' to see results plotted and press 'Result' to return to the result screen. Explorer features four touchless sensors for hands-free operation of print, calibration, tare, and other selectable functions. AutoCal™ ensures performance and assists with routine maintenance by automatically calibrating the balance daily. Explorer is the industry’s most easy-to-use balance, featuring leveling assistance and instructional messaging for quick out-of-the-box setup and use. Explorer’s modular design features a color touch display that can be separated from the weighing base. Explorer® features a user friendly application-based graphical software platform in concert with a redesigned antistatic draftshield, enhanced weighing performance, and a flexible modular display that detaches from the weighing base. Ingeniously striking a balance between cutting-edge technology and functional design, the Explorer delivers accurate performance, with the end user in mind toimprove lab efficiency.
